Hello! This is Orcel Saito.
I'm participating in a Google meditation program called SIY.
Yesterday was my second time at SIY.
I did a "writing meditation."
It's called journaling.
It's easy to do.
First, get some paper and a pen.
Then, choose a topic and write about it for three minutes straight.
If you can't think of anything,
"I can't think of anything."
"This is how I feel right now"
Or whatever it is, just keep writing for three minutes, that's what writing meditation is.
I thought meditation simply involved sitting quietly and concentrating on your breathing, but I discovered that moving your hands like a machine gun is also a form of meditation.
The topic covered in the lecture was
1. "What annoys me is..."
2. "It makes me feel alive..."
3. "When I'm using my strengths, I..."
There were three of them.
The topic seems to be anything.
I have to keep writing, so I don't have time to think or choose.
I just keep writing whatever comes to mind.
Not only does it make you feel refreshed, but it also helps you discover yourself, which is great.
I especially recommend this machine gun meditation to people like me who are restless and have trouble concentrating.
In my case, while I felt like a jerk for getting annoyed over such trivial things, I also discovered that I am also a somewhat good person, as I feel most glad to be alive when I am able to use my strengths and contribute to others.
I was surprised to find that many more people who read my emails are interested in meditation than I expected.
It seems like everyone has the same problem.
Apparently even the genius engineers at Google can improve their performance, so I'm going to believe in it and give it a try.
